A direct, government-administered VA program
The Native American Direct Loan program provides direct financing through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible Veterans and certain spouses to buy, build, or improve a home on qualifying federal trust land. VA, not Operation T.A.G. or PRMG, administers the NADL program.
No down payment is required in most cases.
The VA program does not require monthly PMI.
A fixed-rate mortgage is available under the program.
VA describes closing costs as limited; fees may still apply.
Eligible borrowers may be able to use NADL again for another qualifying residence.
The program may allow refinancing an existing NADL to reduce its interest rate.
Interest-rate update
VA announced the NADL interest rate changed to 2.47% for loans closing on or after October 1, 2026. VA says the rate applies for the life of the loan. This is a VA-published interest rate, not an APR quote or an offer from Operation T.A.G. Verify the current rate and all applicable charges directly with VA before applying.
Read VA’s rate announcement ↗Who may qualify
Current VA guidance says an eligible Native American Veteran, or a non-Native American Veteran married to a Native American, may qualify if all applicable requirements are met. Eligibility and the service member or Veteran’s specific circumstances must be confirmed with VA.
